The objective of this project was to transform a private rooftop in Plateau-Mont-Royal into an outdoor living space. A custom cedar deck, covered structure and integrated planters: a project designed for daily use in a dense urban environment.
Client’s needs
The client wanted a rooftop deck in Montreal with the warmth of wood, a structure providing shade and integrated elements. Elegant, but functional above all.
Constraints of an urban rooftop project
A rooftop presents specific constraints: limited access, weight, water drainage and wind exposure. Building an elevated wood deck in Montreal requires a level of precision that is not always necessary at ground level. Every decision affects both the building and the durability of the structure.
Why choose cedar for an outdoor deck
